  • Asakusa, Tokyo's #1 Family Food Tour

    Top marks 🥢🍺🍙🍣🍤🍱🇯🇵❤️

All four of us want to give Wesley a whole hearted 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review after today’s Tokyo food tour! He took us around the Houzouman temple and environs for sweet and savoury snacks and a delicious lunch and hoppi at [can’t remember the name of the restaurant]. A Californian by birth but an enthusiastic almost-permanent resident of Japan, Wesley was truly delightful, generously sharing his insider knowledge of the city with our group. Arigatou gozaimasu from the Petersen family! 🍺🍙🍤🍣🥢 ps. waiting for the group photos he took or I’d attach those here too!

    Family-focused food tour

We had a wonderful few hours with Moroni, exploring Asakusa and sampling Japanese food. My son was really excited to try the different foods, and it helped us know what we were eating for the rest of the trip. Motivo was so gracious and kind and she answered all of our questions about Japanese food and dining culture, and more. And she went out of her way to make it kid-friendly, with origami and fish catching and more. Heads up - you can use the toilet on the basement floor of the Cultural Center before you meet for the tour.

Great experience for me and my two teenage boys.

I went with my two teenage boys. Wes (Wesley) was fantastic. He gave the tour a great personal touch, with a good sense of humor. He showed us local shops and restaurants with their back stories, and had us taste new snacks we didn’t know anything about before. And as an added bonus, he understood the latest Japanese anime, which meant he had a lot to talk about with my boys. Time just flew. Thanks Wes, and thanks Arigato.

    An Experience of a Lifetime

For starters we got turned arounds with google maps and got to the meet up spot late. I was so upset, but our 2 guides were sooooo accomodating and kind. I envisioned this as a 'food tour', but it was so much more. It was history, culture, games and a learning adventure for the kids. We of course sampled some of the most unique and delicious foods that we would not have without them. We also had a brief language lesson along the way. Funny enough one of the guides and I knew people in common from our tiny town in the U.S. I can speak for the whole family when I say we were blown away by this experience and it was the perfect start to our Japanese experience.

    Amazing!!

Amazing food tour. Highly recommend for families, this was a great way for us to spend our first day in Tokyo. Very friendly guides were great with our 2 children ages 7 and 8. The company was very accommodating. Prompt replies. Can’t recommend enough! You won’t be disappointed

A fun and delicious introduction to Asakusa

The Asakusa tour was a fabulous way to discover so many hidden secrets of the area. We tried a wide range of local foods that we might not have ordered on our own and discovered spots in the back streets that we had missed on previous visits. With perfect English and a locals knowledge of Japanese culture and the city, Asami was able to answer all our questions. We learned a lot, not only about the food but customs and things to do in Tokyo over the next few days. The small group format worked well and we both thoroughly enjoyed our time on the tour!

Fun tour of Asakusa with great views, education tidbits, and a wide variety of food!

I went on the Arigato Japan Asakusa daytime food tour. Although Asakusa itself is an easy area to sightsee on your own, this tour purposely takes you off the beaten track and into more local shopping streets surrounding Sensoji Temple to try lots of snacks and have a nice lunch! If it’s your first time in Asakusa, I would recommend doing this tour and then going back to some of the areas they took you through to sightsee and shop more afterward. Also plenty of time left in the day afterward that you could go to the Sky Tree or other nearby attractions too if you wanted. We stopped at several great little food shops I would have never thought to step into on my own like a rice cracker shop, Japanese pickle shop, spice shop, and more. The main meal was a traditional Japanese set meal with a great view of Asakusa and the matcha finale was delicious! Since it was a hot day I got the iced matcha, yum :) For picky eaters don’t worry— there is no pressure to eat everything and most of the restaurants stopped at had options (for example for lunch you could choose a chicken meal, fish meal, or udon noodles). I can see why this tour is called family friendly. There is some walking involved but nothing too intense (just one shop had stairs) but if you are going in summer you might want to bring a drink since it gets hot! If you’re planning a day in Asakusa this tour is educational, delicious, and definitely adds to the experience! Shout out and special thanks to our guide Satoshi, who was knowledgeable and friendly and helped our tour group become friends.

    Unforgettable !

Great visit with Michie and Wes! Beyond being really nice people, they gave us a lot of information about Tokyo, customs, vocabulary etc... we ate very well! The lunch restaurant was located right across the canal in front of the Skytree Tower. Top!

  • Dine Like A Local In Ueno Market Food Tour With Friendly Guide

    Excellent!

The Ueno Food Tour was amazing! Kaori was my guide. She is knowledgeable, and her English is excellent. I learned about the origins of popular dishes like Nikujyaga. There was a GENEROUS amount of food to eat, and we stopped at 5 different eating establishments, each a specializing in specific dish - my favorite of which was the wagyu beef yakiniku which was served in an air conditioned restaurant at a table with a built-in grill. The beef was served raw, and since it was thinly sliced, it took just a few minutes to grill. It was without a doubt a place I would not have found on my own by just walking the streets of Ueno or hours Googling. The walking itself was not strenuous nor rushed, and we walked at a calm yet efficient pace. Kaori-san was kind enough to take pictures throughout the tour, and I am grateful she did. Like me, she takes pictures of the food before eating.

  • 3-Days Tokyo, Fuji & Nikko Private Tour

Just what we were looking for!

This tour was a great way for us to see Tokyo and nearby sites in the limited time we had in Japan. The guides were friendly and very punctual and the cars were comfortable and clean. This was exactly what we were looking for.
